ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The abstract submission period is now closed.

We had a very positive response to our call for abstracts and want to thank each of you who took the time to make a submission. We received approximately 240 abstracts and 20 proposals for sessions. We are nearly finished with the review process and anticipate that our notifications of acceptance will be sent by June 15th. Please note that upon notification of acceptance, you will have one month to complete your registration payment. This will help us to ensure proper participation at the conference.

We invite session proposals and abstract submissions for oral and poster presentations. We particularly encourage contributions that exhibit an innovative set of approaches. We would like to see the topic areas listed below explored from the perspectives of case studies, integrated analysis, science-policy linkages and outreach and action. The following five suggested topic areas are intended to guide your submissions; however, they should not be viewed as exclusive:

  1. Effects of and Responses to Climate Change in Urban Areas
  2. Land Use and Land Cover
  3. Biodiversity, Habitat Conservation and Urban Areas
  4. Public Health
  5. Governance and Institutions

Furthermore, the joint UGEC/GLP day will follow the theme of "Sustainable land systems in the era of urbanization and climate change". Abstracts are welcome under the following topics:

  1. Direct and Indirect Interactions of Urban Areas and Land Use Changes
  2. Competition for Land
  3. Urban Areas and Climate Impacts
  4. Impact of Urbanization on a Large Scale (beyond urban areas), Biogeochemical Cycles and Ecosystem Functions
  5. Sustainable Cities in Arid Areas

For more detail please see the Conference Concept Note.

Abstract submissions should be written in English, not exceeding 300 words. The abstracts will be chosen based on clarity, appropriateness of the topic, methodology, originality and contribution to the overall field of research.
